Eating disorders at ski jumping athletes
Ptáčková, Veronika ; Vilikus, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Petráková Doležalová, Radka (referee)
In my bachelor's thesis I have been dealing with a risk behavior in the field of nutrition of Czech men and women ski jumpers. The goal of the bachelor's thesis was to find out whether Czech men and women ski jumpers maintain their physiological weight, whether they use inappropriate practices (for example, induction of vomiting) in the context of weight loss. I also investigated whether there is an effort of the International Ski Federation to reduce the risk of eating disorders among athletes engaged into this discipline. In the theoretical part of this bachelor's thesis, I focused on individual types of eating disorders, risk factors for their occurrence, health complications associated with eating disorders or the epidemiology of these disorders. Furthermore, I focused on the ski jumping itself, explained the rules, especially those concerned about the weight of jumpers. I found out how important is the weight of the jumper in the final length of his jump. I also focused on the development of body weight of professional ski jumpers. The practical part was realized in the form of own designed non-standardized questionnaire. The questionnaire was filled in by 49 respondents, 17 women and 32 men. According to the BMI, a third of respondents are underweight, more often women (55 % of women). A...
The media image of ski jumping as perceived by ski jumpers
Bártová, Patricie ; Trunečka, Ondřej (advisor) ; Chladová, Marta (referee)
The Bachelor thesis The media image of ski jumping as perceived by ski jumpers describes how selected Czech ski jumpers perceive the media coverage of their discipline. At the same time, the thesis captures how and to what extent the selected media covered ski jumping in the researched period. The main method used in this thesis were semi-structured interviews with selected Czech ski jumpers. The interviews focused on several levels of their relationship with the media, namely their attitude towards general cooperation, responses to current coverage and alternative ways of raising media attention. Through quantitative and qualitative analysis, the thesis also characterizes the media coverage in selected media in the period from October 2018 to March 2019, ie one complete season of the Ski jumping World Cup.
Comparison of dynamic ability in nordic skiing's disciplines
Kožíšek, Čestmír ; Gnad, Tomáš (advisor) ; Chrástková, Martina (referee)
Title: A comparison of dynamic abilities in nordic ski disciplines Aim: This dissertation aims to compare the dynamic abilities of cross country skiers and ski jumper in age between 12 to 15. Clarification of whether or not a training process of those two athlete groups has a crucial impact on the development of mentioned abilities compared to the other hobby sports group (target group). Methodology: This dissertation is conceived as empiric-theoretical. It analyses the results of samples to verify the hypothesis. There were three groups consisting of 10 samples (athletes) in total. The samples were tested in horizontal jumps (long jump, triple jump, multiple jumps) and vertical jumps (squat jump, counter movement jump). In all tests, it was decided to use only the best of all three attempts for the results. Findings: Development of dynamic abilities during the training process has a positive impact on their development in general. Both cross country skiers and ski jumpers achieved better results than the target group. Furthermore, ski jumpers performed better than cross country skiers. Keywords: physical health, sport performance, cross country skiing, ski jumping, squat jump (SJ), countermovement jump (CMJ), long jump, triple jump, multiple jumps
The comparison of strength of lower limbs in different ski and snowboard disciplines
Tišer, Kryštof ; Jindra, Matouš (advisor) ; Gnad, Tomáš (referee)
Title: Comparison of explosive strength of lower limbs in different ski and snowboard disciplines. Aims: The aim of this thesis is to compare explosive strength of lower limbs in different ski and snowboard disciplines. Methods: This is an empiric-theoretical thesis. A simple experiment (testing) was used to verify the hypothesis. 6 used sets participated in the quantitative research. Testing was carried out using two standardized tests, broad jump and vertical jump (Sargent jump). In both tests the best of the three trials was evaluated. Results: In two tests for the explosive strength of the lower limbs significant differences in this ability were shown between some ski disciplines and snowboardcross. The best results in both tests were achieved by representatives of alpine skiing which disproved our hypotheses. Only the expectation that ski jumpers would perform better than the nordic combination was fulfilled. Key words: explosive strength, broad jump, vertical jump, skiing, cross country skiing, grass skiing, nordic combination, ski jumping, alpine skiing, snowboardcross
